Questions:

1. What are some of the useful SEO techniques? Define briefly.

  • Some useful techniques to improve SEO include using unique keywords, accurate meta descriptions and tags, as well as making your site easily navigable. Creating alt text for all images, along with ensuring they load quickly are important practices as well.

2. What is web analytics and what does Google provide to support analytics?

  • Web analytics is the process of collecting and analysing web traffic for the purpose of improving your web presence by learning how better to reach users and retain them.
  • Google provides a powerful platform called “Google Analytics” that tracks and reports website traffic with many useful tools and features.

3. How do you implement WordPress SEO? Mention at least 15-20 different settings or techniques or tricks.

  1. Install SEO plugins
  2. Use accurate and descriptive titles
  3. Use a high quality page description of a reasonable length
  4. Use keywords that match actual user queries
  5. Implement search tags
  6. Ensure pages load quickly
  7. Use internal and external links
  8. Make site easily navigable

  10. User friendly URLs
  11. Healthy number of quality images
  12. Chunking of text
  13. Ensure pages are accessible
  14. Produce content that answers real search queries
  15. Intuitively organize pages with well-thought-out heirarchy and structure, so users and crawlers can easily understand page content

4. What plugins/resources are available for WordPress SEO? Name at least five plugins or resources and what services or benefits do they provide.

  • Yoast SEO – A comprehensive SEO plugin that helps you tailor your content, tags, keywords, descriptions, titles, slugs, and more to maximize search results.
  • Rank Math SEO – A comprehensive SEO plugin similar to Yoast. The plugin features an AI that helps write SEO friendly page content. Additionally, Rank Math tells you how your keywords rank in Google, so you can make informed keyword choices. Last but not least, Rank Math has Google Analytics integration.
  • All in One SEO – Another comprehensive SEO plugin that does much of the same as the previous two, using AI generation for titles and meta descriptions, along with many more tools.
  • Site Kit – A plugin made by Google that integrates Google Analytics into WordPress. It helps you learn what on your site works, and what doesn’t, which can lead to improvements that boost SEO.
  • XML Sitemap Generator for Google – This plugin helps you generate sitemaps for Google, so Google bots can crawl your pages effectively.

5. Which plugin(s) do you think you will use and why?

  • I’m choosing to use Yoast because it is required for this assignment and because I used it last semester and liked how it works. However, I would like to try All in One SEO further down the road sometime.
