M5A3: Roles
Here is a simple description of default WordPress user roles and Module 5: Assignment 3 screenshots.
WordPress Roles
Subscriber:
A subscriber’s sole role is to read posts and make comments. This role is held by site consumers.
Contributor:
A contributor has access to several low level managerial capabilities. They can edit posts, delete posts, view design patterns, and read posts.
Author:
An author helps create site content through access to all the capabilities of the contributor as well as an expanded list of abilities. Those include publishing posts, deleting posts, editing posts, and uploading files along with creating, editing, and deleting patterns.
Editor:
The editor role builds upon the capabilities of the author by having access to a host of capabilities that manage pages, posts, categories, and links.
Administrator:
The administrator role is the highest role available for a given site. The administrator has access to every capability available for the site they manage.
Super Admin:
Super admins have access to all capabilities on multiple sites under a single WordPress installation.
